JN 9: 1 – 41

I.                INTRODUCTION

1)     We are entering into the 4th week in Lent. In our journey in this Lent we started with WHAT IS TEMPTATION and SOME OF ITS REALITIES, then 2nd week we talked about making some SPIRITUAL TENTS in our Christian life. Last week we reflected about the WATER THAT WILL NEVER THIRST.

2)     This week our Gospel is CURING OF BLIND MAN.

3)     There are 7 STAGES as blind man was cured of his blindness and his faith in Jesus Christ.

4)     Today this whole world and everyone of us are blind with this pandemic virus and can not see any light that would bring us out of this darkness. Let us journey with this blind man how he grew in faith and cured gradually of his blindness and was able to see. There are seven stages that led him to see the SAVIOR REDEEMER who REDEEMED HIM.

5)     Let us reflect through these seven stages and encounter the SAVIOR REDEEMER and ask him to REDEEM US FROM THIS DARKNESS CAUSED BY THIS VIRUS and pray God may give us THE LIGHTCUREPEACERELIEF and HAPPINESS.

II.             THERE ARE SEVEN STAGES

1)     STAGE 1 – SEEING JESUS AS A MAN

JN 9:11 – He answered, “The man called Jesus made mud, spread it on my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ Then I went and washed and received my sight.”

2)     STAGE 2 – SEEING JESUS AS A HELPER OR HEALER

JN 9:15 – Then the Pharisees also began to ask him how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes. Then I washed, and now I see.”

3)     STAGE 3 – SEEING JESUS AS A PROPHET

JN 9:17 – So they said again to the blind man, “What do you say about him? It was your eyes he opened.” He said, “He is a prophet.”

4)     STAGE 4 – SEEING JESUS AS A SAVIOR

JN 9:25 – He answered, ” I do not know whether he is a sinner. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”

5)     STAGE 5 – SEEING JESUS AS A PERSON FROM GOD

JN 9:31 – 33 – We know that God does not listen to sinners, but he listens to the one who worships him and obeys his will. Never since the world began has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind. If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”

6)     STAGE 6 – SEEING JESUS AS THE SON OF GOD

JN 9:35 – 38 – Jesus heard that they had driven him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” He answered, “Who is it, sir? Tell me, so that I may believe in him.” Jesus said to him, “You have seen him and the one speaking with you is he.” He said, ” Lord, I believe.” And he worshiped him.

7)     STAGE 7 – SEEING JESUS AS A REDEEMER

JN 9:39 – Then Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment, so that those who do not see might see, and those who do see might become blind.”

III.           CONCLUSION

1)     These are the 7 stages of Blind man’s faith in which he who saw Jesus as an ordinary simple human being, was able to see Jesus as REDEEMER.

2)     As we are all locked ourselves into our homes, it may be the best time to travel into these stages as the blind man and at the end of it we all may able to see the REDEEMER JESUS CHRIST who will REDEEM USPROTECT USSAVE USCURE USKEEP US ALL SAFE FROM THIS VIRUS and REDEEM THE WHOLE WORLD FROM THIS CORONA VIRUS. AMEN.
