May 4, 2003 – 3rd Sunday of Easter

Dear Friends:

All too often our lives are filled with so much fear. It robs us of hope and makes us weak in our faith. In today’s gospel Jesus once again says: "Peace be with you"! The Risen Lord knows how much we need to have our fears dispelled and our hope restored. Each time we meet for the Breaking of the Bread, He becomes present among us, as the one who opens our eyes, dispels our fears and breathes His Holy Spirit into our hearts and minds. This weekend, at the Noon Mass more than 40 candidates will be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit by our Bishop Frederick Henry. The Bishop will extend his hands over them in prayer and anoint each one individually on the forehead with the words: "Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit". Our Confirmation Candidates will receive the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit to aid them, as disciples of Christ, to live with strength and faith and without fear! They will be infused with: Courage, Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding, Right Judgment, Piety, Wonder and Awe! May their example of coming forth to be Confirmed inspire all of us to live more fully in the presence of the Risen Lord who’s Spirit lives in each and every one of us!

Bruce and myself I would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who have helped prepare our candidates for their Confirmation and all those who served in the liturgy through all the various ministries. We deeply appreciate your gift of time and talent!
